Home / Our offices / Luton

We’re a firm of chartered certified accountants and registered auditors, with an office on Kimpton Road in Luton. We provide accountancy, tax, audit and business advisory services to limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, company directors, landlords and individuals across Luton, Dunstable and the wider Bedfordshire area.

We’ve been going since 2009. We’re regulated by the ACCA, and we’re registered auditors, which means we can sign statutory audit reports that Companies House, lenders and investors will accept. Our partners bring more than 40 years of combined experience from Big 4 and Top 10 UK accounting firms, and that experience is available to Luton clients directly rather than through a referral.

We work with owner-managed businesses, startups and established companies, as well as individuals who need help with a self-assessment return. Whichever it is, you’ll deal with a named accountant from the first meeting to the filed return, and the fee is agreed in writing before any work starts.

Meet the Luton Team

The Luton office is led by Waqqas Memon, who oversees client relationships and advisory work across Bedfordshire and into Hertfordshire. Every client has a named point of contact, and you’ll meet the person handling your work at the first consultation rather than being passed on afterwards.

Waqqas Memon leads the Luton office. Advises owner-managed businesses, company directors and individuals across Bedfordshire on accounts, tax planning and business strategy.

Accountancy Services in Luton

We provide the full range of accounting, audit, tax and advisory services from our Luton office, serving businesses and individuals across Bedfordshire and the wider UK.

Whether you need a single self-assessment return or full accounting services covering bookkeeping, payroll, accounts and audit, the Luton team handles it in-house.

Specialist Sectors We Serve in Luton and Bedfordshire

Our Luton team works across the sectors that make up Bedfordshire’s economy, giving clients sector-specific advice rather than generic accounting support.

Bookkeeping Services in Luton

Bookkeeping is the part most businesses put off, and it’s the part that makes everything else expensive when it slips. Records that arrive at year-end in a carrier bag or a spreadsheet nobody has opened since March cost more to turn into accounts, and by then the tax planning window has already closed.

Our bookkeeping in Luton keeps the records current month by month, so you know your position during the year rather than eleven months after it. We agree on a frequency that suits the business, monthly for most companies and quarterly for smaller sole traders. Records reach us through your cloud accounting software or by upload, and we reconcile, categorise and flag anything that looks wrong before it becomes a problem at year end.

If you’re looking for a local bookkeeper in Luton, the work stays in-house. Our bookkeepers are part of the same team that prepares your accounts and files your tax return, so nothing gets handed to a third party and nothing gets explained twice. That suits sole traders and landlords who want the burden lifted, growing companies not yet ready for an in-house bookkeeper, and businesses that have fallen behind and need catching up before a filing deadline.

We keep the books for clients across Luton, Dunstable and Letchworth, most of it remotely, so you don’t need to drop records in. When we handle the bookkeeping and the accounts together, the accounts cost less because the records are already right, and most clients find the combined fee is close to what they were paying for accounts alone elsewhere.

  • Bank and credit card reconciliation
  • Sales and purchase ledger maintenance
  • VAT-ready records and Making Tax Digital submissions
  • Expense and receipt processing
  • Monthly or quarterly management figures
  • Payroll integration where we handle both
  • Catch-up work where records have fallen behind

Tax Advice and Tax Returns in Luton

Most tax problems are timing problems. A return filed late, a payment on account nobody explained, a property sold without anyone checking the capital gains position first. We handle the filing, but the more useful part is the conversation before the transaction rather than after it.

For individuals that means self assessment for sole traders, landlords, company directors and anyone with untaxed income HMRC has asked to file for. We prepare the return, check the reliefs you’re entitled to, and tell you what’s payable and when, well before the deadline. Our tax advisers in Luton file returns for individuals across Harpenden, St Albans and Hitchin as well as Luton itself. For companies it means corporation tax returns and computations prepared alongside your annual accounts rather than as a separate exercise months later, plus VAT registration, scheme selection and quarterly returns under Making Tax Digital.

Beyond compliance, the planning work is where most clients get the value. Salary and dividend planning for directors, the tax side of taking money out of a company, whether to hold property personally or through a company, and what a disposal will actually cost before you commit to it. If HMRC has opened an enquiry or you’ve had a letter you don’t understand, we’ll deal with them on your behalf.

  • Self assessment for sole traders, landlords and directors
  • Corporation tax returns and computations
  • VAT registration, returns and Making Tax Digital
  • Salary and dividend planning for company directors
  • Rental income, allowable expenses and property disposals
  • Capital gains position checked before you sell
  • HMRC enquiries and correspondence handled for you

MMBA Accountants have been engaged as UK Law Solicitor’s independent auditors for the last three years. They are totally professional and yet friendly and approachable. They undertake a thorough audit and provide helpful feedback to ensure that our accounting processes remain compliant and suggest ways to make things easier for us. Their prompt and cost effective service has been very different from our previous experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services do your Luton accountants provide?

The Luton office covers bookkeeping, payroll, annual accounts, VAT, self-assessment and corporation tax, statutory audit, business advisory, cloud accounting and company secretarial work. Audit reports are signed by a registered auditor.

Morton House, 21 Kimpton Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU2 0HL. We’re a short drive from Luton town centre.

Yes. Small businesses and owner-managed companies make up most of our Luton client base, alongside sole traders, partnerships, landlords and company directors. We also act for larger established companies that need a statutory audit.

We’re chartered certified accountants, regulated by the ACCA, and we’ve held registered auditor status since the firm was established in 2009. You can verify any firm’s audit registration on the UK Audit Register before appointing us.

It depends on the work, but we quote a fixed fee in writing before starting and we don’t bill by the hour. A sole trader self assessment sits at one end and a statutory audit at the other. The first consultation is free and you’ll leave it knowing the number.

Yes, and it’s a routine process. We write to your existing accountant for professional clearance and the handover records, and in most cases, you don’t need to do anything beyond confirming you’re happy for us to proceed.

For financial years beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company can usually claim audit exemption if it meets at least two of these three conditions: turnover of no more than £15 million, balance sheet total of no more than £7.5 million, and no more than 50 employees on average. Watch the start date, not the year-end. A company with a 31 March 2026 year-end is still judged on the old £10.2 million and £5.1 million limits, because that year began on 1 April 2025. FCA regulation, group membership, shareholders holding 10% or more, or a requirement in your Articles can all trigger an audit regardless of size.

Yes. We act for clients across Bedfordshire and into Hertfordshire, including Dunstable, Harpenden, Hitchin, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Letchworth. Plenty of our work is handled remotely, so distance isn’t usually the deciding factor.

Yes. Most clients come in for the first consultation and then work with us remotely afterwards, but you’re welcome at Kimpton Road whenever it suits. We also meet by video call if that’s easier.
